    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • Backing up sensitive material such as films, posters, trailers and transferring to clients. Big emphasis on security such as protecting material. Also forensically watermarking material and sometimes encoding. Sometimes using LTO tapes and retrieving older material from archives.

    Skills

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
  • I have learned more about using LTO tapes, more about films such as the system of trailers; I have developed my understanding of security and the importance of encrypting data and using code names. I have also developed my understanding of audio in films and more about specs and codecs.

    Responsibilities

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • Yes I was given responsibility and worked alongside other data I/O technicians doing essentially the same tasks. Initially the role was more limited to transferring and backing up data however more responsibilities were given along the experience including forensic and visibly watermarking sensitive material. In contrast to other roles I did not have the chance to create presentations in team meetings.
