Overview
- Analysing large and complex sets of media data - Processing and analysing various media datasets from TV ratings to streaming viewership - Transforming data into valuable business insights - Distilling data into insightful and actionable reporting - Increasing media industry knowledge - Getting to know industry trends and the workings of a major media company
Skills
I鈥檝e developed a wide range of skills during my placement, from conducting complex data analysis to managing my time effectively and communicating across multiple departments. My proficiency in MS Office - particularly Excel, has improved significantly, along with my ability to use various other digital tools. The whole experience has greatly deepened my understanding of the business side of the media industry and strengthened my knowledge of professional office etiquette.
Responsibilities
Yes. I was given a lot of responsibility which gave me the ability to learn how to prioritise tasks effectively and really take pride in my work due to the amount of daily tasks and responsibilities. I was given collaborative and indepndent projects that I could ask for as much or as little guidance as I wanted. I was treated like a normal member of the team, not just an intern.
Support & Guidance
I was given loads of support and guidance throughout the internship and could have asked for a lot more had I needed to. NBCUniversal really supported me throughout the entire internship as well as the excellent guidance and wisdom from my personal manager who has taught me so much.
Culture
I didn't expect it but everyone is always willing and open to help or have a general chat. The overall company culture is really friendly, inclusive and a great atmosphere. I haven't had a single bad experience with anyone's attitude or demeanour, it is a lovely place to work and everyone I've met on my journey has been so kind and helpful.
Your Impressions
10/10. I can't put into words how valuable this year has been. I have learnt so much, met so many amazing people and improved and learnt so many skills that I will be able to transfer to pretty much any job in the future - I have learnt life-long skills.

Do it. It's an amazing place to work and an absolutely wonderful opportunity to learn so much about the media landscape and industry. No complaints.
