Overview
We attended a number of panels on topics such as DEI and growing in a company. We shadowed Associates and work involved: ensuring formatting of documents is correct; drafting legal documents; taking meeting notes from calls with both internal and external stakeholders; sending emails out to the wider team
Skills
I have improved my attention to detail skills and legal analysis.
Business Insight
It was very comprehensive and engaging. The variety of practice areas and legal positions presented to us enables you to envision your future being with the firm.
Culture
There was a great culture as people were happy to talk about their careers, their projects and what鈥檚 kept them at the firm for so long.
Your Impressions
It was a great week of work experience. Very well-structured as we were able to be taught about the firm whilst also experiencing how the firm is run. We were provided with the best lawyers and global leaders of the firm, which made us feel immensely valued, and we were able to improve our understanding of how the firm fits within the commercial world on the whole.
Yes
I would say to embrace all that comes your way. Try and learn the most out of any position you are in (as there are usually a lot of things about the work that you wouldn鈥檛 expect to be helpful). Continue to stay engaged and curious in order to learn and truly grasp the work at A&O Shearman.
