Overview
Using the agile development process to develop software which has been defined with clearly laid out user stories translating into tickets for us to complete
Skills
I have developed my fundamental programming skills, as well as having picked up a new programming language and a wider array of frameworks. I have also learned slightly more about architectural design and how software is built to communicate with its individual components
Responsibilities
I was given a fair amount of responsibility. Nothing more than expected. I was working on real meaningful work with every other permanent employee
Support & Guidance
I've received a good amount of support and guidance from a few people I have worked with. I always felt like I could ask questions about my work.
Culture
The company culture between all employees at the site is great. I believe there are improvements to be made though. There have been occasions where work will just be dumped on an interns plate by a project manager, or other members may try to approach interns and pull them away from their usual work to do something for them.
Your Impressions
For the most part I've enjoyed my placement. Though there were definitely periods where I was very unmotivated and was simply turning up because its a job
Yes
Apply to the Cheltenham or Wales site if you'd like a better chance of career progression. If you are a software engineer, I would recommend applying to a tech company, not an aerospace company
