    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • The Technical & Sourcing Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing the technical aspects of product sourcing, ensuring that high-quality, cost-effective materials and components are sourced for production. This role involves collaborating with suppliers, negotiating contracts, managing sourcing strategies, and ensuring compliance with technical specifications and standards. On a daily basis the role is meeting heavy and mainly works through email and excel to track the workload, supplier communication and the engine parts that are being sourced. Use of analysis and evaluation are daily skills paired with intuition to meet programme needs external and internal regulations.

  • I have been given a lot of responsibility and allowed to drive how i want my placement to go. My team and management have been very supportive in training me and supporting me in my development and allowing me to progress rapidly in my role.

  • My team is very supportive and willing to help with anything even the colleagues who are not located in the same branch as me. The company as a whole is supportive also and always willing to help in any situation even ones external to your job and Cummins. The guidance I have received has been exceptional.

  • The company culture and atmosphere is relaxed, friendly and supportive. Everyone appears very content in their role and really likes the company creating a very welcoming environment .

  • Be open and honest during the interview processes. Coming across as a friendly and chatty individual, focusing on soft skills, appears to be more appreciated than technical skills during the interviews. Be prepared and know your knowledge of the company and the job you are applying for.
