Overview
A mix of accounts payable - accounts receivable - accounting , my day to day involves liaising with vendors ensuring they are set to be paid on time and that amounts are correct. At Month end & quarter end I have certain accounting responsibilities. Along with keeping an eye out for when payments are received so I can allocate correct accounting to them. Also helping with providing backup for when the auditors started their audit
Skills
Developed skills: Commercial awareness Communication Time management Digital Application efficiency (excel, SAP)
Responsibilities
Yes responsibility - however I was always monitored which I agree with, and that level of monitoring lessened and lessened as I progressed.
Support & Guidance
Plenty of support & guidance within the Universal International Studios team
Culture
Superb until the end when there was an announcement that my team UIS Universal International Studios announced that 1-10% of staff were being let go around April time. Besides this there was a real family feel among everyone within UIS. The interns all bonded very well also with a large thanks to the early careers team (Nicky Badrick) in organizing many ice breaker events
Your Impressions
I enjoyed it 10/10 office location, teams, City, Office interior, activities both team & intern only were all amazing. The cool nature of the company made bottom of the barrel Intern activities enjoyable & interesting. Note that is not a dig at having 'bottom of the barrel responsibilities' as this is natural for interns due to no accounting qualifications & lack of exposure to confidential information.
Yes
If allocated to Universal International Studios - definitely do your research as that is a team that is well worth getting accepted into.
