The Role
I thoroughly enjoyed my work placement at IBM. I have gained lots of insight and knowledge of what working in an industry is like. I
I felt extremely valued by my colleagues. Having the majority of our based on location, enabled me to build good relations with most members of the team and create a strong sense of teamwork.
I was given strong guidance and support throughout my time by management in my team and this really enabled me to develop as a professional. As asking lots of questions helped my IBM knowledge to grow and made me a lot more competent at my job.
I always had a good amount of work flow on a regular basis, however during month end I was considerably busier due to extra month end activities.
I was given a good amount of responsibility during my placement. I was given the responsibility of improving and smoothing out complex processes to make them more efficient.
Some of the skills learnt during university and college were helpful during my time at IBM. However I believe my skills have furthered far beyond what they were when I started and now I am very proficient with using excel.
The Company
The general atmosphere in my office was rather quiet as people tend to work from home quite a bit. However half of my team were mostly in the office so it had a good atmosphere.
The overall work placement was organized pretty well as we had 3 performance reviews over the year to ensure we are meeting are objectives and progressing at IBM.
There was training events organized such as Careers Academy. In addition,I completed a IBM principles basic accounting course which I received a certificate for.
Financial Bonus
Above 25 days holiday
Working from home
Unfortunately IBM do not offer what career I want to pursue.
The Culture
The social scene was pretty good amongst fellow placement 西瓜视频s as there was quite a lot based down in North Harbour meaning we socialized a fair bit outside of work.
I was living at home so for me it was very cheap and the socialising cost is average city prices I would say
The nightlife in Portsmouth is average but not nothing special. Then again I may be biased as I am from Portsmouth.
I actually started a 5 aside football team and entered us in the local league which was a good social activity outside of work and built a good group of mates.
