    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • The work placement was enjoyable, a learning experience.

    3/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I felt hugely valued by those I came into contact with. It was easy to speak to anyone in IBM about anything. Knowing they had all been an intern at some point means everyone is happy to help you out. Valued even more by colleagues when you perform your role well and you are entrusted with greater responsibility.

    4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • Some support was given, but mainly relied on the handover period to learn role. Guidance limited by availability of task manager

    2/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • This varied quite a bit, some weeks were hugely busy with little time to breathe, but the majority of the time it was a sustained level of work.

    3/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • Working on a client account and having lots of contact with the client meant I was entrusted with a large amount of responsibility. Owning items in governance meetings and reporting back to the customer was really good and valued experience.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Little of what I learned at university came into play in the role.

    2/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • More work focused than social as it should be, but work took prescient over socializing and catching up with peers

    2/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Induction was set up well and well organized. Support and feedback checkpoints also meant that you can review your placement at various stages.

    3/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • Little time spent educating interns, however courses are available to find out more about sectors of the business.

    2/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Subsidised Canteen

    Working from home

    3/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • I would not want to get a job at IBM. Not because of the people or organization itself, mainly due to the work and the product - Not having extensive know;edge of the product and being technical makes being in commercial matters a bit like playing catch up...

    3/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement 西瓜视频s/colleagues?
  • Yes - lots of other interns, although if you work on client site - you will rarely engage with others.

    2/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Expensive - London beers are far too pricey

    2/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Good nightlife

    4/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Nothing
