  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I have been very lucky to rotate on desks with people who have warmly welcome me. I have quickly been given more and more responsibilities as I earned more trust in tasks I was achieving. Furthermore, I definitely fet that my colleagues were both challenging and supporting in a really mindful way.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • I received large guidance from my manager and my colleagues. This support came not only at the work level, but also on a more personal level. They helped me getting genuine insight of the industry and its evolution. They also introduced me to new higher rankes people, which was very exciting.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • The Investment Bank is a very large industry with countless businesses to discover and learn about. I was given many daily tasks, processes to run along with a longer term project. I was very busy in a good way, but I have always been able to find time to go around and see other desks.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given many various tasks and responsibilities. Thanks to that, I felt useful to my desk and I have appreciated this a lot. I understand as an intern that I could not access and do everything - but given the short amount of time of my rotations, I believe I have received great exposure.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I have learnt a lot at many different levels. On a very technical basis, I have been able to develop my Excel skills, learn VBA and enhance my Powerpoint and English skills. Howver, the IB experience itself was the most valuable. To be able to be at the forefront of the financial markets, with Bloomberg and sitting right next to traders taking on huge trades, that was definitely exciting and very rewarding as well. This was in the very continuity of my studies, as I studied both Applied Math and Finance. Being able to understand the mathematical models that we use in our pricing was definitely a huge advantage for me.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • It was very good ! people are very friendly, and even though everybody is really busy on the Trading Floor, people would still mnanage to find some time to grant me in order to sit with me and take me through their business. The workforce is very young.

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • It was greatly organized for my part. I have been very lucky to rotate three times in different businesses that enables me to get a greater understanding of how different areas of the IB can interact between each other. It was also great for me to be able to apply all the theoritical knowledge I have learnt at school and to see it deployed into reality.

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • They provided me with everything I could have wished for in my intership. They have provided me with different mentoring programs, social events etc. I have also been provided all the tools I need to efficiently lead my work: Bloomberg, computers,.. I have been invited to a lot of different events and that was greatly rewardign.
