The Role
The placement was fast-paced, challenging thoroughly rewarding! The teams I worked with provided lots of time to teach me the skills necessary to that I could excel in the business and accomplish goals that I would have previously never thought possible.
The team I worked with gave me plenty of opportunities to work on project-based assignments, for which I was given complete control and credit throughout. It the respectful attitude that employees have towards interns, that made the placement such an exceptional experience.
Interns were given plenty of guidance by the line managers we worked for, which allowed us to learn from the best in the industry. Moreover, I was given guidance and support from employees outside of marketing, which enabled me obtain a broader set of skills and receive key insights into how the business functions as a whole.
During the placement I was kept very busy, working long hours each day. However, the hours I worked were thoroughly enjoyable, as I was constantly challenged in new and exciting ways, which ensured there was never a dull day!
The team I worked with allowed me to manage 4 nationwide marketing campaigns, each of which had a significant budget and impact on the industry. It is through the responsibility that I received, that I was able to learn at an accelerated rate and develop key strategic campaigns.
The placement relates directly to my interest in marketing and subject of my dissertation that I shall be working on in the final year of university
The Company
Lively, supportive and (most importantly) energetic! The people in the building had a passion and flare for what we do, and it is easy to see as soon as you walk into the office.
The placement was very structured, as I received constant support and guidance from both my team and HR.
The division I worked in provided training days for the interns so as to teach us how to use key marketing tools and implement any new marketing methods that had proved a success in other countries. Furthermore, the teams I worked with provided further training on the areas in which they specialised in.

L'Oreal is ranked as one of the best marketing graduate schemes in the UK and provides exceptional prospects to all employees with regards to factors such as rapid career advancement and international assignments.
The Culture
HR organised an intern committee, which ensured that all interns were involved in social events outside of the office, thereby creating a great social scene for us! There were events such as ice skating, sports day and cocktail making classes, all of which were good opportunities to socialise with other interns.
The L'Oreal office is based in Hammersmith, which was a slightly cheaper location than zone 1 for socialising and cost of living. Also the area had a great atmosphere, with local lunchtime market stalls positioned just outside of the office and plenty of places to eat outside if the weather was nice!
Nightlife was good around Hammersmith, with a few bars and pubs which were reasonably priced, although the majority of clubs are located in Zone 1.
The intern committee provided us with plenty of opportunities to get involved in activities outside of the office, which proved to be really popular!
