    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I have really enjoyed my time at L'Oreal. It is a very fast paced environment but as long as you have a good attitude to learn you are able to pick up the skills you need quickly and get a lot out of your time with the company.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I felt very valued by my colleagues and was treated like any other member of the team. My team had high expectations of me from the outset and this has allowed me to take on important and exciting projects from the start which add real value to the business.

    4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • My manager has been very supportive and even when she has been too busy to help me personally, she always responded to emails or pointed me to someone else in the team who can help me.

    4/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Very very busy! You will never be bored at L'Oreal, as you won't have time to be!

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • A lot of responsibility, i have been working on a new fragrance launch and therefore entered the business at an extremely busy time. This has allowed me to lead exciting projects which i will visibly be able to see the results of when the fragrance is launched in store.

    5/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • L'Oreal provide all interns (summer and year placements) with really valuable training that will help us all in our future careers, whether this is at L'Oreal or elsewhere. I have had excel training, lunch and learn sessions with staff from different areas of the business and also learnt how to manage a busy workload. I study English and therefore this internship has been incredible valuable as it has developed my skills in areas where i did not have much prior knowledge: such as my numerical skills, excel skills and general understanding of the business world. However, it has strengthened the skills I have already acquired throughout my English degree which will benefit me when I return to University: such as my communicative and analytical skills, and the internship has also definitely improved my organisational skills!

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Fun, fast paced and very sociable. L'Oreal has a coffee culture which allows you to easily network with people in the business and encourages face to face discussion.

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • My internship was very well organized, with regular training sessions and with initial, mid term and end of term reviews. Particularly for summer interns, this helps you stay focused on your goals and ensure you achieve what you want to get out of the internship.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • I think they invest a lot of time with the interns as I have had roughly 1-2 training sessions a week, be it in a skill such as Excel or an insight into the company, like a lunch and learn session.

    5/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Subsidised Canteen

    Sports and Social Club

    Subsidised/Company Gym

    Company Parties/Events

    Staff Sales/Staff Shop

    4/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • Every intern and placement 西瓜视频 is considered for the graduate scheme, however you must first be recommended by your manager, HR and a general manager in order to progress your application.

    4/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement 西瓜视频s/colleagues?
  • An intern committee is elected, with a president, social sec, sports sec and 2 newsletter editors. There is also a facebook page where the interns can chat to each other. This was extremely useful and has made the internship very sociable, with regular nights out and friendly sports matches (such as rounders in Hyde Park). I have also been able to go for drinks after work with my team on a Friday as during summer we finish at 3 on a friday!

    5/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • I commuted from home. The social sec managed to get us deals for clubs so the nights out haven't been too expensive so far.

    4/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • We tend to go out more centrally in London, but there are some nice pubs around with a good atmosphere for drinks after work.

    4/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • Yes- Sports teams, drinks and socials organized by intern committee.
