About You
The programme was very competitive because not everyone get fast tracked to the assessment centre for the summer internship. Everyone was trying hard to show their capabilities and attracting attention from the HR.
All the members were friendly and helpful, treating us with respect and kindness.
Each one of us has one mentor from the company, who provided us with insights regarding their jobs and their experiences in applying for the company.
They are not essentially helpful for my degree, but can be extremely helpful in my future career.
The Company
The HRs are constantly keeping track of time and only one session got rescheduled during the week. This was amazing since some activities' schedules were detailed to 5 minutes.
It was pretty competitive and there was not many social events. However I met really interesting people during the event and I really enjoyed that.
We had several skill sessions such as "commercial awareness" but I did not find those very helpful.
I got a lot of chance to talk to people doing the actual job and learnt about their day-to-day job.
From the first speech given by the company leader to the last day of our own presentation, I got to understand J.P. Morgan's motto "first class business in the first class way" really well.
I got to learn and understand some divisions that I have never expected myself to be interested into and benefited a lot from that.
Everything Else
J.P. Morgan paid for my transportation from Oxford to London, my day-to-day transportation in London and five-night accommodation in Stratford, only 5 stops away from its Canary Wharf office.
There were networking events every day. Sometimes they could even be a little bit overwhelming.
The networking lunches were a little bit awkward since company representatives normally had no time to eat when answering all the questions and we had to stuffing sandwiches into our mouthes when listening to them. But it was understandable since we had really busy schedule every day to fit in those networking sessions.
Very helpful and interesting despite the competitive environment.
