About You
This was an excellent week, very well structured and thought out as I always had something to do.
Genuinely felt really valued, a lot of effort had gone into organising a multitude of networking events, presentations from very high level J.P. Morgan employees, and giving us a deep an insight as possible into the different areas of IB and Risk
There were soft skills sessions and tips on how to network, the mentor structure provided was very helpful and you could always easily approach any of the HR staff
The presentations were well explained and provided me with a better understanding of the individual divisions at J.P. Morgan. The team project was fun and is definitely a good experience to draw upon in the future
The Company
Always had something to do, a great balance between presentations, networking and socials
Got along really well with a lot of the interns, everyone was nice and there wasn't the sort of extreme competition between us that i heard might be the case, it was all very friendly
While it was only a Spring Week, you could tell a lot of time and effort went into organising the spring week to help us all develop an understanding of banking and risk to help us navigate our career paths. Insight from MDs and Heads of divisions provided a key insight into what a career at J.P. Morgan involves and job progression
I felt that the project provided a very strong insight into what I might be doing as an analyst. Hard work and team work are essential, but equally important is to be able to be friends with your team because you'll be spending a long time with them every day. I definitely felt our group developed a strong micro-culture and this made working together very fun.
Just talking to the many analysts on hand was a great way to see if you could click with the people there, it's something you have to experience rather than read about and was definitely an important factor in my decision to pursue a career here. I understand more clearly the culture and character of the people now and this has really made me want a job at J.P. Morgan more.
It clarified to me what my role would be in each of the divisions and definitely made me aware of what my preference would be.
Everything Else
I was provided all my travel, breakfast and dinner at the hotel every day and more than enough money for luncheon.
More than enough opportunities to find out if you're the right fit for the bank
The social was excellent, and throughout the week just spending time with the other spring interns was very fun and relaxing.
Most of the time was devoted to helping us understand ib and risk better.
Definitely the best insight i've done, from what I hear from friends who have done others i would say that it's the best out there. Even if you don't get fast-tracked, it will make your future steps easier and clearer.
