About You
It was enjoyable, but also challenging in terms of the group work- but this was not a bad thing!
Everyone was very friendly and willing to answer questions and give you insight into what they do, and about the company.
We were assigned a mentor each who we met a few times, and who was available to email/message to ask questions to. Everyone I knew found their mentor very helpful and approachable.
The Company
It was well thought out and gave true insight into the company and the role of an analyst. Having multiple opportunities to speak to current employees was definitely valuable.
A lot of people gave up their time to be involved in the Spring Week and talk to us, or help us with group work. I feel this gave a really great insight into the company, but also proved that the people who worked there were friendly, and also passionate about their jobs. This was very good in terms of convincing us that it is a good company to work for, and definitely was a main factor in deciding to apply for a summer internship.
Having the opportunity to speak to people withing the firm directly at networking sessions was extremely useful. The only other thing that would have been useful in seeing exactly what people did would be by shadowing them, but this obviously could not be helped as there was regulatory issues.
The talks from different departments, and networking with analysts in these different departments was valuable in deciding a career path.
Everything Else
Sometimes there were too few employees at the networking events (completely understandable considering how busy they are!) and this meant that the employees were slightly 'mobbed', making it difficult to ask questions.
We did, but only by chance when we asked an employee.
Definitely. It was challenging, and tiring as the week was jam-packed, but it was extremely insightful and a great experience. It was also great to be able to meet people interested in the same possible career, and the employees, and hear directly from them about their experiences and their advice to move forward in pursuing a career in this field.
