About You
The week was amazing! Not in a sense that we were only presented with only positive aspects of the job, but rather in a sense that it gave a good and authentic insight into investment banking and risk.
At all times, we were made feel welcome and there was a lot of effort put in to prepare this week for us. This positive attitude didn't only come from the human resource employees, but also from all other employees we got in tough with - from analyst to seniors. It is good to know, that the bank actually shows interest in the people starting in their firm and treats them as equals, giving new employees a sense of belonging.
Each participant got a mentor from the start, which was amazing. By this means, we could ask questions in advance and throughout the week. Furthermore, almost everyone who talked to us encouraged us to stay in contact and ask in case of any questions.
I can now imagine myself working at JP Morgan in the future. Eventhough I had the feeling before already, I can now base this decision on a much clearer impression - being also well aware of the downsides of the job. Therefore, I will now try my best to get an internship in oder to actually experience how the day to day work at JP Morgan is. This is the only part we didn't get to experience during the week: Work shadowing. Yet again, even if we had, we wouldn't have really known how it is to work oneself until we tried it during an internship.
The Company
It was a well thought through week. However, during the last two days, the level of information decreased a lot compared to the prior days - Time that could have probably been used more effectively. Having said that, also the last two days were very enjoyable.
The other participants, as well as the employees were very open, friendly and most importantly interested in others as a person. It was serious enough to work efficiently when needed, but casual enough to be up for jokes. All in all a very nice and warm atmosphere!
There were numerous employees who took some of their time to speak to us. Furthermore, the whole program me required a lot of planning and was well thought through. So, the firm invested quite a lot in us, let alone that their reimbursed our travel and payed for our accomodation.
As I said before, it helped us establish a better basis for making an educated decision of whether or not the sector appeals to us. It especially helped to decide if we like the culture at JP Morgan, which is a main factor when deciding whether or not to work at the firm.
See above
I will definitely try to get an internship at JP Morgan. On that basis, I will then decide if I really want to do this in my future.
Everything Else
This includes flight and tube, as well as accommodation.
Yes. However, there were always heaps of Î÷¹ÏÊÓƵs per senior or analyst, which made it often hard to ask questions or establish a good dialogue.
We had plenty everyday, which made it easy to connect with fellow participants.
Yes, concerning both privately, as well as work place organized free-time activities.
Definitely! Great chance to see in which sector you can imagine your career and amazing to meet others in the same place. I will try to stay in contact with many of the participants and hope to get the chance to see them again at JP Morgan.
