The Role
I really enjoyed both the work and the people at this internship. But I was not given enough to do towards the end.
Most of my team were very friendly towards me, and I felt like we had a good relationship. However, my most senior manager was not friendly and quite intimidating, but this could have just been because they were very busy.
I was given a huge amount of support by my immediate manager - we had 1-1 meetings every week so I always knew that I was on track with the expectations of me. It was also a good chance to express and feedback or questions that had developed over the week.
Most of the time it was quite a good balance. I found that there were extremely busy days and others where I struggled to occupy myself. My manager was not present towards my final weeks and during this time work was particularly sparse.
A good amount, I contributed significantly to certain projects and meetings.
I would like to go into finance, and have definitely got a feel for what it will be like in the industry and I have gained invaluable knowledge of the markets. It won't enhance my degree, as I do science, but I am sure I will reap the rewards after my degree. You learn quickly, but it never felt out of my depth.
The Company
Friendly and surprisingly relaxed. I don't think that Asset Management lives up to the fast paced reputation that other sectors of banking hold.
I thought that the general structure worked very well. We had regular presentations from other departments within Asset Management, and also regular after-hours activities organised by HR.
An average amount, I feel that I could have received more training and been pushed a little harder.

There are many routes made available through taking part in the internship scheme for future employment. If they like you, and provided there is head count there is a good chance of employability. If there is not space in your team, you are free to apply elsewhere within the firm.
The Culture
Great social scene, it surprised everyone. The other interns were great, and everyone was happy to get involved in drinks and going out etc.
London is always going to be expensive unfortunately!
You make it what you want in London.
Yes. J.P. Morgan Quiz, J.P. Morgan Corporate challenge (definitely sign up if you get a chance!), softball.
