About You
it was a good experience (spring week experience the markets) with exposure to different desks and areas which was useful.
didnt feel particularly valued as there was no real work involved during the 1 week insight program and it was mainly to get to know the business and the company
significant support from a mentor who was a junior (first year or second year) who helped with questions.
got to experience different desks and real world financial markets. also got to know what the company is looking for when hiring.
The Company
very structured with a detailed program schedule that was strictly adhered to. there were a lot of presentations.
a generally positive atmosphere where mentors tried to help and explain more about the industry and what they do
since it was just a 1 week program, there was little real investment though it was definitely fruitful in terms of personal development.
by speaking to people in the firm and from the desk rotations, it helped one to understand the hours and work that are done by full time workers.
the culture was quite collaborative and people were willing to help each other out which was good to see
Everything Else
accommodation was paid by the firm but there was no salary.
yes, there were a few opportunities to network with different people from the bank, including some senior members of the company
generally alright with the opportunity to meet people from different parts of the bank, though the social events werent very exciting.
due to the short time frame of the program (just 1 week), it was difficult to find out about what most employees were involved in outside of work
yes, this insight was quite helpful in understanding financial markets better and understanding the different roles.
