    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • I work in a vaccines team. Initially I spent the first 7 months working solely on method development for a vaccine. The remaining time of my placement I helped out other analytical teams on large molecule projects and started another method development for a different vaccine. All my work was done by HPLC and size exclusion chromatography (SEC).

    Skills

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
  • Yes, I mastered my analytical thinking skills and complexed problem solving. I have never run a HPLC or SEC before I started my placement but over the course of the year I became very confident at it. I also had a chance to practice my presentational skills, presenting at a site Early Talent symposium and presenting a poster at the chromatography day.
