    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • I'm part of the UK HR team, supporting the Policy and Immigration Manager in a dynamic role. In the Policy space, my responsibilities can include drafting new policies, refreshing existing ones, or managing flexible/home working requests. On the Immigration side, I may analyse data reports related to job changes for sponsored visas employees, liaise with the Home Office, or review employee files to ensure documentation is compliant. The scope of work is diverse!

    Skills

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
  • I have developed a broad range of skills in my role, including networking, managing my own diary, and enhancing my project management abilities. My placement has also helped me strengthen my organisational, communication, and problem-solving skills, allowing me to work more efficiently and confidently across various tasks and responsibilities. Even skills such as writing professional emails, presenting to various stakeholder and conducting myself in a corporate environment has been significantly enhanced.

    Responsibilities

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • Yes, without a doubt! I was truly treated like a member of the team and not just an extra pair of hands. One of my biggest projects was writing my own policy which had amazing feedback and requests to go global. I worked on many different projects over the year, some working with very senior stakeholders which instilled confidence as they trusted me.

She consistently encouraged me, advocated for me and pushed me to go out of my comfort zone. In addition, my fellow peers and my team was there for me whenever I had any queries, required extra support or wanted to learn more about their role.
