Overview
The role supports both the Community Affairs and Corporate Communications functions within the Corporate Affairs team at a global financial institution. Responsibilities include coordinating internal and external communications, drafting content for newsletters and campaigns, and supporting corporate social responsibility initiatives. Day-to-day tasks involve managing spreadsheets to track campaigns, collating daily press coverage, conducting research and data analysis, and creating presentation decks. The role also includes running volunteering events, assisting in the planning and delivery of internal events, and handling follow-up tasks such as managing attendee lists and gathering feedback. This position plays a key role in ensuring the smooth delivery of communications and community engagement activities aligned with the firm鈥檚 social impact goals.
Skills
Key skills I developed include strong attention to detail through managing data, tracking campaigns, and preparing accurate communications. Proactivity has been essential in organising events, anticipating team needs, and taking initiative across projects. The role has also strengthened the ability to manage expectations and balance multiple tasks, while enhancing communication, organisation, and analytical skills in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
Responsibilities
Responsibility was an important part of the placement, with tasks like campaign tracking, event coordination, and communications requiring individual ownership. Equally strong was the responsibility to actively contribute within the team, working collaboratively to achieve shared goals and ensure overall success.
Support & Guidance
There were weekly catch-ups with my manager to get feedback and guidance. Right from the start, I was paired with a buddy who helped me settle in and was there to answer any questions. I also got introduced to the rest of the intern group, which made it easy to make friends and feel part of the team. Plus, there was access to an internal site full of useful resources to help me learn and grow along the way.
Culture
The company culture was open and inclusive, where it was always encouraged to ask questions and seek support. People were genuinely happy to help and share their experiences, creating a great opportunity to network and learn about different roles and career paths. I felt extremely welcomed from day one and feel very proud to work at Morgan Stanley.

Overall, it was a valuable and enjoyable experience and I hope to return to the Firm once I graduate.
