Overview
Replying to emails, leasing with sites, working within the LST to provide support and information to clinical trials.
Skills
Leadership, honesty, curiosity. I have learned a lot about clinical study administration, different ethics committees, protocols and the career ladder within AstraZeneca. I have a much better idea of what I want to do in future.
Responsibilities
I think at first it felt like a lot of responsibility, because you are a key part of Study Management and Monitoring. Without CSAs, it would be very difficult for studies to run in any way shape or form. After a few months, you get used to the pressure and responsibility - and start to really understand how much you are helping.
Support & Guidance
My managers have been brilliant. Quarterly and monthly check-ins. They care about my future and current timelines, and they focus a lot on the person rather than the job. Lots of resources and help at all times with the other CSAs.
Culture
Very big and widescale. Lots of support from ERGs for everything that you might want or need. Everyone is very easy to reach out to. My office is smaller as it is Horizon Place and not the main location - however it has just as much help and opportunity.
Your Impressions
I have enjoyed the break from university and the connections I have made here. I am using this as a stepping stone for something bigger, and I definitely feel that I get that support for anything I want to do in future.
Yes
Make sure to go in with an open mind. There is a lot to learn, and if you come with expectations or big plans, you can skew the opportunities that are there for you. Talk to as many people as possible and throw yourself at every chance to do something new,
