Overview
As a placement 西瓜视频, you will engage with stakeholders from your assigned customer account to build trust and ensure service excellence. You will collaborate with teams like Sales, Service Delivery, and Project Management to identify opportunities to add value to contracted services and drive growth. The role involves daily communication, supporting service reviews, and helping to resolve issues - offering valuable exposure to customer relationship management and the wider business.
Skills
During my placement, I developed strong communication, relationship management, and leadership skills. Engaging with customer stakeholders helped me improve how I convey information clearly and build trust. Quarterly checkpoints with senior stakeholders gave me opportunities to build confidence and communicate effectively when presenting. I also learned new Excel tips and techniques which enhanced my data analysis and reporting abilities. Overall, this experience boosted my confidence in managing professional relationships and bringing teams together to collaborate effectively.
Responsibilities
Throughout my placement, I had the opportunity to manage and oversee some of our contracted service lines, which gave me valuable insight into real-life service delivery. As part of this, I actively managed customer escalations and queries, led team meetings, and was responsible for supporting contract changes.
Support & Guidance
I was assigned both a buddy and a mentor, who I had regular daily interactions with, as well as weekly check-ins with my manager to ensure everything was on track. This support structure made me feel comfortable operating on the account and asking questions. Computacenter is known for its warm, friendly culture, and that really shows. Colleagues across the business are always happy to offer help and guidance.
Culture
The company culture at Computacenter is inclusive, engaging, and community-driven, with plenty of opportunities to get involved outside of work. For example, during South Asian Heritage Month and Black History Month, Computacenter and its partners hosted a range of initiatives across all office locations. There is also a weekly five-a-side football league near the Blackfriars office. These initiatives help create a welcoming environment and offer great opportunities to connect with colleagues beyond your department.
Your Impressions
I have thoroughly enjoyed my placement at Computacenter. This was my first real insight into working within a technology environment, and the experiences and opportunities I have had have been invaluable. They have helped shape how I see my future career. The Early Careers cohort, including fellow placement 西瓜视频s, has been incredibly supportive, creating a strong sense of community. This placement has made me genuinely excited about what to expect after university and starting my professional journey.
Yes
One piece of advice I would give to others applying is to genuinely be yourself and let your values shine through. Be open to new opportunities and experiences, they are key to developing professionally and expanding your network. Computacenter does not look for identical candidates; everyone brings something different, so understand what sets you apart and highlight it in the application process. Once in role, maintain a balance of being professional while staying friendly and approachable too.
