Overview
My role involves many aspects including: managing hazards logs, reviewing new hazards for products being installed onto a vessel and surveying ships. This involves interacting with many people at all levels within BAE Systems as well as the customer.
Skills
Many of the skills I have developed involving my role are understanding risk management and the acceptable level of risk for hazards on ships. Throughout my placement I have also developed softer skills including chairing meeting and presenting to all levels within the organisation.

I was quickly welcomed into my team but also others around the office. Throughout my placement many colleagues have offered career and university advice which they have picked up from their route.
Culture
The company culture is primarily focused on doing the job in the right way whilst doing it safely. It is clear to see everyone is passionate about this at BAE Systems. The general atmosphere is that of a friendly inclusive place.

I have enjoyed my time at BAE Systems and have had many interesting, diverse opportunities for work including in other teams to develop a broad skill set.
