Overview
I work on multiple projects based on naval platforms in Portsmouth Dockyard. This varies from upgrades to existing systems or the design of a new system. This role includes online and in person work. With the opportunity to go onboard Navy vessels.
Skills
Confidence and presentation skills, knowledge of the defence industry, collaboration. Whilst also building on my electrical systems knowledge.
Responsibilities
Yes, given the opportunity to lead tasks and even meetings. The amount of responsibility taken is down to the individual.
Support & Guidance
Weekly learning sessions, review meetings and support from early careers are all given.
Culture
Always a good atmosphere regardless of the pressure level. The wider company is supportive and pushes the development of its employees.
Your Impressions
Have enjoyed the experience a lot. There is opportunity everywhere if you look for it, and plenty of interesting work to be done. Only a few points in the year when there was little to do due to holidays/customer funding.
