Overview
Working with high profile clients and maintaining the relationship. Getting involved in numerous different types of deals e.g M&A. Doing a lot of microsoft excel/powerpoint work also.
Skills
Developed my excel skills definitely, in terms of the shortcuts associated and understanding the functions. Increased knowledge of the financial sector and the different terminology that's used. Using different programmes such as factset and bloomberg.
Responsibilities
Responsibility was varied, you would always have a senior that would assess your work once it was completed so that they could adhere to the quality. You were however given a lot of responsibility with client work, your seniors would trust you to do a good job, and would more so fine tune the work that you did.
Support & Guidance
Everyone was so willing to help. You were encouraged to ask questions by all. People would break things down comprehensively, even if you were doing a monotonous task they would tell you how it fits in in the grand scheme of things.
Culture
The company culture was great, people were extremely friendly, invited you out for coffee/drinks. People were extremely welcoming and wanted to integrate you straight away.
Your Impressions
I really enjoyed the internship! It was an extremely vital step in my development journey, there are numerous different financial concepts that I now have in depth knowledge that I did not have before. Numerous team events, also social events within and outside your team that you can easily get involved with.
Yes
I would say: make sure you have your CV, Cover letter done well. They will ask you questions about this in the further stages. Also don't have the conventional view of how cut throat banking is, the culture has shifted a lot since then (not to say its now perfect) but the majority of people are extremely open/friendly.
