Overview
Checking and amending product artworks. Creating banners, FSU, blips and other POS with creative agencies. Assisting different managers in their jobs, including helping with social/TV media. Assisting the headquarters in France with any data they need. Pulling and analysing your brand's latest period/week's data for your team and different functions within the business.
Skills
Learned how to use different data applications/sites such as Nielsen and Kantar. Further developed my understanding of ads and how/why they're created. Further developed my excel skills (very underrated). Learned how to present and have a story when creating decks/presentations in order to further emphasis my key points.
Responsibilities
Yes, you're given as much as you want. Often in the first few weeks/months, you won't have much, but as you show that you are starting to understand the job and what is required of you, you will be asked to lead projects and handle tasks from start to end by yourself. The product artwork process will be fully your responsibility, your your product manager there to help you.
Support & Guidance
At first, I felt that I didn't have enough. Handover week went by really quickly and there were a lot of things I wasn't sure about. It was also the first time my manager had an intern so they weren't sure on everything. But, other interns helped me out and there were a lot of training sessions and guides to help me out as well. As you advance in your internship, you'll also get more comfortable asking, therefore support/guidance will come more easily
Culture
It depends on where you are in the company. The whole company is very hard working and extroverted, however the division I'm in has more of a 'work hard, play hard' mentality. It's all about working on as many projects as possible, working as much and as hard as possible during the day, working long days sometimes. However it's also about the social side, having lunch with people, going for drinks after work, catching up with people during work. Sometimes though, there can be a very hierarchical culture, where as an intern you will feel like an intern, which isn't great.
Your Impressions
It was a very steep but very nice learning curve. Definitely taught me more than my two years at university and probably will teach me more than all three university years combined. Even though there might have been some tough/negative moments during the internship, there are only positive outcomes.
Yes
Don't be scared to ask for help and don't be scared to take initiative.
