Overview
My role included rotations on a sales desk and trading desk. Day-to-day work included reading up on the technical side of the desk, asking the team questions, networking, keeping up to date with markets and working on my desk projects. Desk projects varied from creating a stock pitch to analyzing risk to investigating client relationships. I also researched trades for a virtual trading game we played and had meetings with my team.
Skills
I have learnt a lot about markets, networking, communication and presenting. I've also improved at working to tight deadlines and being proactive in reaching out to others. I also am now better at managing my own time.
Responsibilities
It depends on the team you're placed in - I didn't have much responsibility earlier on, but in my last rotation I was tasked with a sizable project that involved speaking to senior employees on important subjects, which was very interesting and a great responsibility to have.
Support & Guidance
The recruitment team were always supportive, my mentor was available to talk any time as well as my buddy. There is a good support network available
Culture
It was a great culture - socials were organised, there were charity and diversity initiatives too. It was inclusive and everyone was willing to help others out
Your Impressions
I really enjoyed my internship - there was a wide variety of activities, I learnt a lot and have a lot to take forward in my career
Yes
Be yourself in your application and interviews, make sure you understand what they do and their culture and be secure in your knowledge of markets
