    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • I really enjoyed the insight program, although I believe that one more day of activities would be better to give room for longer networking sessions or additional panels. But that does not change the fact that it was a very helpful insight. All the panels were enlightening and the organizers and people that spoke to us were open, easy to reach/talk to and excited.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • I felt very valued. During the whole program they kept encouraging us to ask as many questions as possible and not to be afraid to say anything. It was clear that their objective was to help us learn about the firm and the division and collaborate with others, not compete, and that they want us to join JP in the future

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • Before the program, my recruiter replied to my emails quickly and helped me with any doubts I had. During the program, it was the same thing. Every single person was willing to help and they were excited to see (potential) future colleagues. There wasn't even one time I felt like I couldn't reach out to someone.

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Since after the program I have a much better idea of how a financial services firm works, and it is very different from what I thought. Now that I know many things work, I have a better idea of what skills I should work on more to develop and those I already have that I should value. Even though what I learned might not help me in my degree specifically, I will definetly use many of the tips on CV building and self branding, for example.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • The insight was very well structured. The scheduled was followed and there were no significant delays. In fact, we were dismissed a few minutes earlier 2 days, which was a good thing because it meant that we were productive and respected the schedule sharply, so we could scape the rush hour when taking the public transportation. We had panel sessions, work shadowing (which in my opinion was the most interesting part), networking events, etc. The food served was amazing and all costs were convered (plane/ train tickets, accomodation, metro card...).

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • The general atmosphere was incredible. At first we were all scared, but soon we realized the program was more about collaboration rather then competition. Most of the people were super excited to learn as much a possible, but definetly all of us were excited just for being there. It is definetly a very good environment to be in.

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • There were sessions focused on CV building and self branding, for example. There was also a mock assesment center that gave us a general idea of how the real one works. Also, the networking events helped us practice breaking in and out of conversations, as well as engage with seniors and asking to maintain contact.

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • The work shadowing session was the time we had a better idea of how it would be like to work in JP Morgan. We got to learn about the schedule of different people that had different roles, how their tables look like, meet some members of their teams and learn a little bit about how they conduct their work.

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • Company culture is something taken very seriously by JP Morgan. Not only they talked about it, but they also stressed how important it is. I would say the culture overall emphasizes teamwork, collaboration, communication and honesty. Everyone I interacted with showed themselves as being very open and honest, as well as happy to be there.

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • I wish we could have had more work shadowing sessions because those gave us a very good idea of what a person does in each role. But the program overall helped me have a much clearer idea of how working on a bank feels like, and it showed me the very broad range of career or job options I can choose from within it.

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?
  • JP Morgan paid for my accommodation, as well as for my plane tickets (train tickets for those who took the train), and travel card (for public transportation in London). The accommodation provided was very nice and it's location was incredible, in Stratford City, even though it wasn't very close to the office (had to use the metro to commute from the hotel to the office at Canary Wharf).

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • Yes, throughout the entire program there were many networking events and opportunities to meet other employees that could be interns, recently hired people, analysts and seniors, so we could listen to different opinions and get advice from different people that are in different "levels" and have different roles. We could ask them any questions we wanted, but because there were more spring interns than employees in the networking events, the conversation didn't get too "personal"

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • On the first night there was a social/ networking event at a ping pong bar where we got to meet, play, drink and eat with the other participants. There were networking events and opportunities to meet other employees that could be interns, recently hired people, analysts and seniors, so we could listen to different opinions and get advice from different people that are in different "levels" and have different roles. We could ask them any questions we wanted, but because there were more spring interns than employees in the networking events, the conversation didn't get too "personal"

    5/5

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?
  • Yes. JP Morgan as a whole engages with community service a lot, and the vast majority (if not all) volunteers. In the Finance and Business Management division, it seems like the work-life balance is not so hard to manage, so the employees have time to invest some of their time in activities outside work.

  • 15. Would you recommend this insight to a friend?
  • Absolutely. The Spring Insight program was definetly one of the most valuable experiences of my life and it gave me a clearer idea of, basically, what is a bank, its operations and all it's divisions (of course with a focus of my division, Finance and Business Management). I would recommend it to those who have no idea of anything and also for those who do have an idea but want to learn more about JP in specific and about a specific division. It got me very excited to apply for the summer internship.
