About You
I enjoyed the insight overall. It was good fun being in the city and experiencing life in such a reputable bank. The people working there and running the sessions were so friendly and there were a lot of nice people in the cohort alongside me too. There were times however when I felt a bit out of my depth and felt a bit embarrassed about how far behind the others I felt. Perhaps I should have done the non finance spring week as you are assumed to have a fair amount of knowledge about this industry.
Everyone treated us as equals and were more than willing to answer any questions and give advice.
In some of the overview activities, I could have done with more support through the ideas behind the tasks they gave us.
So much so. I learnt an incredible amount about Markets as a whole and this will help me make decisions about my future career path.
The Company
Very well structured. Every day was jam packed full and we were given a schedule of the whole week when we arrived on the Monday morning which was very useful. Very well organised overall and we got to see many different areas of markets.
The atmosphere with the people who worked at J.P Morgan was fun and positive and energetic. Everyone seemed happy to be there and to be spending time with us. Within the cohort there was sometimes a negative feeling of one where fellow interns seemed to talk down to others if they didn’t know as much as them. But again this is not the fault of J.P.Morgan staff who were very lovely.
They invested a great deal. We had two rotations were we were able to sit on the desks of traders, researchers etc and they all took the time out to explain what they were doing and to answer any questions we had despite being very busy. We were given a project leader who took time outside of workinn hours to help us with our project and presentation.
This was not really the purpose of the spring week I don’t think. I used this as an opportunity to learn about the different desks and areas before making a decision about where to apply for the summer internship. It was good to get a feel for the hours however as we had long days but this is what it would be like in real working life.
A great deal. I already thought the culture was extremely positive which was one of the reasons why I applied here. Everyone got along with each other and were excited to learn and interact with fellow workers. It was also fun to go to the social events that were on after work.
I haven’t fully decided which path I want to take but this has been so useful in identifying areas I am interested in and areas that do not interest me as much. This is something I could not have learnt simple from ready an article or googling this type of thing.
Everything Else
I was reimbursed for expenses. They paid for everything. Rail tickets, a travel card, accommodation, food and drink. No expense was spared. All social events seemed so glamorous with a wide variety of food and drink for everyone who was there. The food was absolutely lovely and was an absolute perk.
A lot of networking opportunities with every type of person involved at the bank. We had social events so Could network with each other. We had the opportunity to speak to managing directors, and new analysts. We also got to speak to people who had been through this process themselves and who were incoming summer interns.

These networking sessions were over lunch and dinners which made it difficult to eat and network at the same time however.
