    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • This was a really great opportunity to see what the company was like. The networking and work shadowing was very helpful, fun and informative. In addition, the programming challenges were a good way to get to know new people, develop team working skills and learn more about agile development process.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • It was a really great opportunity to see what the company was like. The networking and work shadowing was very helpful as it allowed us to meet other employees who started off like us, as spring week Î÷¹ÏÊÓƵs. Also, we were reminded how this spring week can lead to an internship.

    4/5

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • We received a lot of support during the activities and the coding challenges; it was not direct help, it was more like hints or support so that we could find the solution by ourselves. There was also a lot of feedback from mentors during the challenges, which was very useful to understand where to improve.

    4/5

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • There was a big focus on teamwork, which was an essential part of working for J.P. Morgan; this will always be important in my degree studies and beyond since teamwork is such an essential skill that is valued by many employers. Also, it was useful to learn how to network.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • The event was structured quite well, so there was always something happening and the days were organised really well. There was a really good balance between networking, activities, talks, coding challenges and social events, which was really great. There were times, however, where I felt that certain activities could have been shorter to allow a greater variety of challenges/activities.

    4/5

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • The atmosphere was great; there was always something happening and the days were organised really well. There was a really good balance between networking, activities, talks, coding challenges and social events, which was really great. There were times, however, when the atmosphere was lacking a little, such as during the robocode session which dragged on a little bit.

    4/5

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • This was more of a placement to gain an insight to what the actual company is like, rather than training us. I do feel that there could have been some sessions to help us develop. For example, maybe an introduction to financial terms, advice for assessment centres and interviews, or general recruitment tips.

    3/5

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • 4/5

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • This spring week was the perfect way to understand what the company is all about, as well as all of their values and culture. There is a very big emphasis on working in teams, in addition to using agile development in order to be more productive and efficient when working.

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?
  • Travel and accommodation were paid for by J . P . Morgan, and if you were eligible for accommodation, they also provided a travel card for you to use during your time in London. Though we were not paid for this placement, it was a valuable experience, also, food and drink were provided.

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • This was one of the biggest focuses of this spring week insight programme. There were opportunities to network throughout the three day placement. On the first day, we had a social event which allowed us to network with technology analysts. On the second, we could network with our mentors. On the final day, we could network with senior management over lunch.

    5/5

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • This was one of the biggest focuses of this spring week insight programme. Not only were there opportunities to network with graduates, there was also the chance to network with senior management, which was a really nice and interesting way to learn more about the company, how to progress to other roles and what the work entails.
