The Role
The internship was a fantastic experience, rich in learning about the firm, finance, my chosen division and my own interests and skills. It was clear that J.P. Morgan cares that interns get a meaningful and formative experience and I very much appreciated this. My favorite aspect of the internship was that it was very well organized, with abundant social events, feedback sessions, training and exposure to senior members of the firm.
Highly- my managers, HR and overall colleagues made me feel like an integral part of the team from the very first week and it was evident that my work contributed to my team's and department's output from the beginning. Throughout this internship I received abundant constructive criticism and I viewed this as an indication that my colleagues valued me as a junior to train and help develop.
To a great extent- there are regular check-ins with management and managers, which are a great way to voice concerns and feelings about the internship. Check-ins were also very useful to understand my strengths and weaknesses and to gather advice on how to best get (and give) value during the internship. I was very grateful to have the opportunity to get feedback collected from so many people, all at once, throughout the 10 weeks.
I was significantly busy and I dedicated several weekends to extra work and learning. The intensity of workload also depends on how much one seeks to do, on the team and on the division. I tried to keep busier than necessary by seeking additional work/learning in order to get the most out of the internship and give the maximum contribution possible to my team.
I thought that the responsibility level was high for an intern. My work was used for real projects and I could feel that throughout the 10 weeks I was given incrementally more responsibilities. I also felt that I could be open with my managers on how comfortable I was about taking more or less responsibility and they were supportive in pushing me or recalibrating my workload.
I have finished my studies but I have started a graduate role within the same department where I completed the internship with immediate start. The internship was an important way to understand whether I fit with the role, the team and the firm, as well as a good way to begin a full-time role in the smoothest way possible.
The Company
Organization was outstanding. We received a detailed schedule of the events and tasks by day and week at the beginning of the internship; training and other events were spread in a balanced way throughout the 10 weeks. Also, HR is very well organized, responsive and knowledgeable about the internship and any issues that you may have. Any query I had was always resolved in less than 48 hours.
I felt that J.P. Morgan invested heavily in intern training and development. The internship starts with a one-week intensive training especially in Excel and Finance fundamentals, which were very useful throughout the internship. The trainers and the material provided were of very high quality. We also received additional training, such as Bloomberg terminal training at the Bloomberg offices in London. Development was also done through regular check-ins with management, which showed the investment made on interns even from senior members of the firm.

One aspect that attracted me to J.P. Morgan was its focus on and openness towards mobility. Speaking to people at the firm during my internship, I realized that mobility is frequent and encouraged at the firm, which is a reason why I decided to join J.P. Morgan as a graduate. Overall, employment prospects at the firm are appealing, especially because of the rigor of the training offered, clear promotion path and mobility opportunities.
The Culture
The internship gives plenty of opportunities to socialize and network with fellow internship across divisions. This not only made the experience more enjoyable, but it also enabled me to learn about other parts of the bank through the other interns, which was a great opportunity to learn and ask many questions about the firm in a relaxed setting. Any additional social events depend on the individual but there are plenty of opportunities to explore London, make new friends and get connected with other members of the firm during the internship.
