The Role
The internship at J.P. Morgan was my dream and it turned out to be an amazing experience. Every individual who was selected to be part of the summer internship was so unique and I am happy to connect with. I have learned a lot about the finance industry and my opportunities at the company
I felt valued all the time. Everyone was very friendly and the atmosphere was very pleasant and is in contrast of what I have heard from other Î÷¹ÏÊÓƵs at my university who took part at the internship in the previous years. Employees took their time to get to know us interns
There was a lot of guidance. For instance, every intern gets a buddy who are typically an Analyst or Advisor. They are there for you during your entire time and J.P. Morgan and to help you find your way in the firm or help you to answer any questions that you might have.
I do not study a finance related course so the information that I have acquired will be less relevant for my degree. However, I learned a lot about the industry and has broaden my scope of a career at J.P. Morgan. But, I have learned certain skills in preparing projects at my time there which will be certainly beneficial in my degree.
The Company
The atmosphere was really amazing and exactly what I expected from such a world class institution at J.P. Morgan. Everyone is willing to work hard, go the extra mile and even over hours if that is necessary to succeed. I slept little but I did not care as I want to prove myself as well. All the interns were like-minded which all pushed us to our limits.
The internship is very well structured. Nevertheless, I do think that the first month was way busier and it calmed down a little in the second month where I had much more leisure time. It is structured in way, that you will get a taste for different divisions and then you can kind of specialise depending on your preference.
To a great extent. There were quite a few opportunities to network with the employees. I have even sat down with an employee for a coffee and interviewed him and ask all my questions in my head. However, the employees will also take their time to hold presentation. This gives you always to the opportunity to connect.
The company culture seems very typical for the finance industry. Very formal and everyone strives for great results. However, I do not find employees to be unfair to each other and to just think of their own success. Everyone was friendly and offered help whenever needed. All in all I am glad that I have received a graduate job offer.
The Culture
Very good. I was positively surprised by the kindness of employees and advisors who were always there for us and encouraged us to ask questions. They have all taken their time to sit down with us and especially the dinner with senior management showed the genuine interest of the company in their interns.
