The Role
I really enjoyed the Internship. I gained a lot of technical experience use in the industry such as the application of advanced java concepts. I also constantly networked with Interns, full time employees and senior management.
Took me a while to comfortably settle into my team
On most occasions, I received support when required.
I usually worked from 9am to between 7 to 9 pm on weekdays and voluntarily worked on some weekends. It was really intense and I had a lot of things to learn and work to deliver in a short time frame, Although working hours weren't great for me, in most cases it is quite balanced
I was given a lot of responsibility. An important thing is to ensure you plan and realistically set out how long it will take you to complete the task. The great thing is that you will be given real work that will be used buy the organization.
The extra programming knowledge I've gained will assist me in university and my career at large. Examples include the use of advanced data structures, unit tests as well as writing high quality and maintainable code to name a few
The Company
The general atmosphere was great and professional but not extremely friendly. I guess its the culture since its an American Financial Institution.
The recruitment team did an excellent job in organizing the internship program.
The company invested a lot in me. I constantly attended Intern and full time 'Learning Sessions'. I also regularly took online training courses with my team on Pluralsight to improve out technical skills.

The future employment prospects look great as the organization is investing heavily in technology.
The Culture
The social scene was amazing, Went to socials with other interns and my team
Very expensive as its in London. Tips to save money include: cooking lunch at home and getting an affordable bicycle to cycle into work or paying for monthly travel rather than pay as you go.
London nightlife is the best
Yes there were a couple of opportunities to choose from.
