    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • The experience in JP Morgan has provided a valuable opportunity to connect with employees working there. Over the 10 weeks, it allowed you to understand JP Morgan Business as a whole and a better idea of the roles you would want to work for after graduation. I thoroughly enjoyed it and found it tremendously useful.

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • They provide pre-internship online training to give you a brief overview of the finance sector which is useful even though I studied Economics in university. During the internship, there are many training course available and everyone are eager to help. I get assigned a buddy in completely different dept and a senior mentor in the same dept. They are very friendly and helpful.

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • The Bournemouth office is a lot more relaxed than the London office. However, everyone I have met are friendly, helpful, and kind. They are very willing to give you support, guidance and overview into their work. There are endless possibility to add value and learn. It all depends on how much you are willing to involve in.

  • I enjoy working with the people there and if I get offered a place, I will be more than happy to take it. The career progression here is similar to other banks and the benefit and pay here is competitively attractive. As being such a huge global company, the opportunity is endless and I think it is a great place to work in.

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • Through talking to people, you understand a lot about the company culture and work ethic. When it comes to project collaboration, the way people handle challenges and the standard of output tells you how good they are. There was an speaker session given by the CEO and numerous senior networking session that allow you to understand their culture, career progression.

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • In JP Morgan, it is up to you to make the most out of your time in internship. I organise at least one overviews weekly and actively involved in societies to play sport. Towards the end of internship, I even organise a work shadowing trip to London office with another interns and get a broader understanding of JP Morgan business.

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • Again the opportunities are endless and it depends on how involved you are. The interns always hang out during weekends for food, drinks or day trip to nearby natural scenery. There are also numerous team events and corporate group events happening all the time. There are many corporate sports group after work.

    5/5

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?
  • 5/5

  • 15. Would you recommend this insight to a friend?
  • Yes. Working in Bournemouth is definitely cheaper than London in terms of rent. But the other cost of living (like grocery, social expenses, transport) I think the cost is similar if not the same. However the pay here is expected to be lower than London salary. As being a town, the beach and the relax environment in Bournemouth is definitely an advantage.
