    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I thoroughly enjoyed my time while I was interning because all the people I met were very collaborative, friendly and ready to help whenever I had a question. Everybody, from my manager to Human Resources staff made sure I was enjoying what I was doing. All the other interns were nice, too.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • My colleagues made sure I knew them beyond the work environment. We often went for breakfasts and lunches or met after work. Everybody was ready to share their experiences and expertise and advise me on how to best develop my skills and career. I will definitely keep in touch after I finish the internship.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • My manager and other senior member of the team made sure I had all the knowledge I needed to carry out my tasks in the best way possible. When I was unsure they were immediately ready to help me to learn new things. Feedback was very detailed and given on a regular basis.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Business varied, in the first week I was busy doing training and attending the various induction events planned by HR. When I started to be assigned tasks and projects it was up to me how to manage the workload. In some cases, the day was full of meetings, in others it was empty. There were a lot of networking meetings to attend or to plan.

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • The amount of responsibility I was given was immense, especially in my main project. Approaching senior people, both internally and externally to discuss confidential information on a regular basis was my day to day job. Even in the side projects I was involved in, my work was seen by people really high in the hierarchy.

    5/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I feel I have learnt a lot of skills that are important not just at university, but also in day to day life and will help me further in my career. I enhanced my Microsoft Excel skills, developed relationship building, presentation, communication skills and also an holistic understanding of the industry.

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • I expected the atmosphere to be more corporate: everyone minding their own business with heads down. What I found really surprised me: everyone was extremely nice and happy to help, we were always joking with each other and sharing experiences. It never felt like I was working in one of the biggest corporations in the world.

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The internship was well organised, we received weekly newsletters from HR with all the info we needed to make the most of our time. There were a lot of opportunities to network, both in organised events and one to one. All the events were perfectly organised. The calendar given to us on the first day was fully respected.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • It was clear since day one that the company was investing a lot on us. We were given quite a few useful things in the first week. There were really good events with famous speakers. The training we received was great and constant. We always had private transport, no matter what the event was. Tech support was available in few minutes.

    5/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Flexi Time

    Subsidised Canteen

    Sports and Social Club

    Subsidised/Company Gym

    Company Parties/Events

    Staff Sales/Staff Shop

    Working from home

    Healthcare/Dental

    4/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • There are a lot of opportunities for future employment and if you are clear with them, the managers and HR help you explore the one that better suits your skills, career aspirations and degree. Since it is a global organisation, there are international opportunities as well. Based on your performance, you might be offered a graduate job.

    3/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement Î÷¹ÏÊÓƵs/colleagues?
  • Everybody was really friendly, no one was trying to put down anybody and everybody helped each other explore the different areas where they worked. We organised some events outside of work to get to know each other better. I personally made friendships that will last well beyond the end of the internship.

    4/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • The cost of living is much cheaper compared to London. It is in the average.

    4/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • There were quite a few interesting places to have fun.

    4/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • There were a lot of opportunities to get involved outside of work, especially in the different sports teams. With weekly trainings and matches, it was also a great opportunity to network with people who you would never meet otherwise. There were also Business Resource Groups who organised events for LGBT, BME, women or young people.
