The Role
The internship was very enjoyable, the company went to a great extent to organize activities and networking events for you to attend
I felt like the work I was doing was going to be used once I finished my internship, therefore it gave more meaning and motivation to my time there
My manager and team were very supportive, they would spend time explaining thing to me if necessary
I always felt like there was something for me to do. If I did happen to be waiting for something which was stopping my work there are learning courses which you can do in the mean time to progress.
I was in a team of 3 interns were the entire project was our work. Therefore everything involved in the project was our responsibility.
I learnt lots of new content and skills, as I study engineering lots of it didn't directly related to my degree currently but it made me consider how I can use what I learnt in my internship to improve my university work
The Company
Very relaxed and friendly - similar to that of a tech start up. All of my colleges in the office were very approached and considerate.
Very well organized. We were given a calendar at the start of the internship with all the events and talks we were to attend for the 10 weeks and the schedule rarely changed from the original dates planned. We received a phone call from our manager two weeks beforehand tell us our specific location and what our project work would involve.
We were encouraged to attend talks which were for educational purposes to either explain a part or the bank or an area of technology. We also had access to a variety of elearning courses which we could take whenever we had the time.
Flexi Time
Subsidised/Company Gym
Company Parties/Events
Working from home
Healthcare/Dental
Very appealing, we got the chance to speak to many graduates to ask they how they found working at the company. Something which was particularly appealing was the encouraged mobility as there is such a wide variety of roles within technology and the bank as a whole, further due to their scale you could work in pretty much any country you wanted to.
The Culture
Very social, there were many events hosted by the recruiters which were designed for networking but there was also a very social atmosphere within the interns so there was drinks after work at least once a week which you could go to.
As it was central London, very expensive. However JP Morgan gave you £1000 relocation fee to help you with the cost of accommodation.
Very good but expensive
Yes, I joined the JP Morgan girls football team and there was many other sporting clubs and Business Resource Groups you could attend.
