The Role
Amazing experience, JP provides a very well structured internship with all opportunities to learn and develop within these 10 weeks.
This is a tricky one, but when behaving and fitting in the company this is absolutely no problem. Fairly quickly, one gets proficient in a particular subject which helps to be valued by volleagues within a few weeks.
Support amd guidance is outstanding - there was never a time where I asked for help and did not receive it - by how ever senior the person is. The supervisors are approachable and take time for everyone. I never felt alone or without someone to ask for help.
During the first few weeks it is difficult - you want to work but don't have much knowledge. After 4 weeks I started to get proper work and from then onwards I was constantly busy enough - but the workload was never undoable.
The level of responsibility is within what is expected - I was given tasks that I completed on my own, but everything was checked before being sent to the client - this is common procedure because 4 eyes see more than too - completely understandable.
Strong computing skills were helpful during my internship (strongly depends on the area) - but an analytical mindset in general is required. This was supported by me studying a science at university. Similarly, the job provides a good training for those skills and a new area of where to apply them.
The Company
Very positive, driven and vibrant - JP is everything but a boring place - and this makes it a uniquely good place to work for. Sometimes, it even gets a bit too much and regulation seems to reduce some of the 'fun' that is expected from working in a bank.
HR did a fantastic job in organising the whole internship - there was a good amount of socials/educational events and everything was very well structured. 10/10.
JP offers online training throughout the internship - but most importantly you learn on the job. So, all the training is fine and interesting, but usually you're busy enough and there is enough on the floor to learn about - it's like a very interactive university.
Subsidised Canteen
Subsidised/Company Gym
Company Parties/Events
Very appealing, JP is the top bank to work for and there's no reason to work for any other bulge bracket instead - it is the top.
The Culture
Very positive, everyone really nice, relaxed, open and interested in similar topics - makes the internship well-rounded and more enjoyable that if it was work only.
London is expensive no question, but the salary is extensive and thus this isn't any problem.
London - extensive as expected. (but expensive).
Not very many, the internships keens you fairly busy - which is what one expects and completely understandable.
