The Role
It was a great opportunity to gain insights and learn. I would say that it took me a step further to understand what I want to do in my life and above it was a great personal experience. All in all it is a great structured program. All in all it is a great structured program, specially designed to get a whole JPMorgan experience.
In my team everybody was friendly and open-minded. Of course in the normal rush of a day and the normal hectic it is hard to feel a real appreciation, but whenever there was time, my colleges put an effort in letting me know that they appreciate what I am doing.
Everybody was always pretty helpful and open. Of course in a business environment people are always busy, but they took an effort to listen to me and my concerns and tried to help wherever they were able to. I think this friendliness of the people of JP is really unique.
As the internship has a proper structure, you are given projects that ensured that you always have something to do. Although therefore the stress level can go highly up, it was fun and I think it is better to have tasks to work on and be given a chance to learn instead of just sitting around.
You get responsibility from the first day. At some points my team members asked me to prepare stuff and they directly send it out to the clients. At the beginning this can be frightening, but you quickly adapt to it and make sure you submit an equivalent quality in whatever you do.
I think I learned a lot about myself during the internship. I was faced with many challenges during the internship, which were created for me to develop and grow above my own expectations. I also was able to improve my Bloomberg skills, what will for sure help me in the future.
The Company
The general atmosphere is at the first sight busy, but whenever you need something people take their time to help you, usually no matter how busy it is. As already stated everybody is highly open minded and friendly. It is expected that you do your best, but nobody expects you to know everything and so you can always ask.
I never had such a structured internship. HR and the whole organization took a great effort to ensure that we all took the most out of this internship. We received several trainings, a lot of insight and challenging tasks that ensured a steep learning curve. We also were assigned a buddy and so in case you have a problem you always know to whom you can go.
To a high extend. We had two or more training sessions every week, after we had a whole week of training in London. This is the great thing about JPMorgan. They do not hire you for what you know, but for your personality and then train you in whatever you are required to know.

Living in Geneva is generally expensive, but your salary also compensates for that. Generally Geneva is a great place to be. It is not a huge city, but there is always something going on. I highly enjoyed being here in the summer as the weather is in most of the days really sunny.
The nightlife is great in Geneva. I was lucky to live in a street where a lot of bars and some clubs were, but in general Geneva is not that big so that you can go anywhere quickly. There are many really nice bars, but it is also nice to just grab a beer and sit close to the lake.
I did not really get involved into any club or anything in specific, but as Geneva is an international city, there is something for everyone in this city. For me the most enjoyable thing was to get a bike and take a trip around or to go for a hike, but as I already stated there is a lot you can do.
