The Role
Thoroughly enjoyed it - I was given meaningful tasks to do from the very start and was given a lot of responsibility such as preparing a report by myself. I also had the help network I needed to do well and come to people with any struggles
I was given a lot of responsibility and work to do and felt like a real part of the team. What I did helped day-to-day and with projects and I was told often when I had done something well that stood out.
Regular catch up meetings with members of the team and members of the company in general for support. Buddy system, manager and senior mentor.
I was quite busy but it was manageable and I didn't have to stay past my working hours.
A lot - tasked with having my own project.
People management, working relationships, time management, presentation skills, project work etc. - will definitely help with my last year at uni, particularly with my dissertation and with presentation that count towards my grade (I was really nervous with presenting before)
The Company
Professional but very relaxed and everyone was really nice.
There was work ready beforehand for us as well as business as usual activities. Tasks and access given beforehand. Phone call from manager before starting to introduce themselves and let you know what you would be working on/area you would be in so you could read up before. Only issue was no computer access on the first day
Lots of courses and lots of meetings with senior leaders to help development and train us in areas we were weak in e.g. excel, presenting.
Flexi Time
Healthcare/Dental
Mid and end of internship reviews to assess whether they would be willing to offer you a full time position - competitive but if you work hard it could pay off.
The Culture
Going out and lunches with the other interns and your team mates. Pre-planned mid and end of internship socials that included every intern in all department.
London is very expensive but I travelled in and we were given relocation money that more than covered it. Socials that were organised by the company were paid for by the company. Other informal social events were okay as many places offered Î÷¹ÏÊÓƵ discounts to us.
London is full of bars/restaurants/shops that are open late that we could all go to.
Corporate responsibility day, working with business resource groups to create events e.g. wellbeing events that I organised outside of my usual job role
