The Role
I have really enjoyed my internship. The whole internship is very well structured - we had a 6 days of in depth training before we joinged the desks on the products and services in our division and this was great to get to know the other interns. Once we joined the desks, we were able to get stuck in straight away but still were able to benefit from scheduled teach-ins on the product for the first 7/8 weeks of the internship. People are super friendly and always willing to answer your questions, it's a really inclusive environment. There were lots of socials planned by HR too so all the interns could network and make friends. Overall I've had such a brilliant time and this internship stands out from all my other experiences at other banks on the street.
I feel extremely valued - I've been working on deals just like the full time analysts. My opinion is sought after, listened to and taken into account which even surprised me because I didn't think that people would take much notice of interns' suggestions. I've been given ownership over certain tasks and this has made me feel like a real part of the team.
I was given so much support by not only my team but the wider teams in my division. My manager and supervisor have been great and both have connected with me on both a professional and personal level. We have weekly one to ones and they are very involved in making my experience the best it can be. We also socialise quite a bit during the week which has contributed to the rapport and team dynamic.
I was very busy day to day - I had scheduled meetings every day as well as product teach ins. I had a few projects to complete over the internship too so these kept me busy on days where I had less in my calendar. I also was given ad hoc tasks to do to when my team had surplus work.
I was given quite a lot of responsibility - being put on some deals. Some team members would also put me on their out of office when they were out on business travel so I could deal with enquiries (as best as I could!) which was exciting.
I've definitely learned how to be more organised and how to manage my time effectively. Those are definitely key skills that I will be implementing into my studies when I return to university.
The Company
Atmosphere was great - everyone is super funny and laid back.
very organised - good balance of socials, networking events etc
JPM invests a lot into training - we had 6 days of offsite training before joining the desks which was invaluable. We had a great tutor and it was a great start to the internship. Prior to the internship we had online training with multiple different modules that we could study and take assessments afterwards.

Very appealing - a full time job was definitely the goal of basically every intern and this was actively encouraged by the business. The training programme for full time analysts is 8 weeks in New York which is extremely appealing.
The Culture
Most definitely - we had weekly drinks 2/3 times a week. Impromptu team socials and lunches were a key trend over the weeks of the internship.
I lived at home so rent was no problem. I also study in London so was used to the cost of socialising. London is very expensive but it comes with the territory - plus we're being paid so it was great!
Amazing!
Yes, we could get involved in Corporate Responsibility initiatives - helping out with the Grenfell Tower Appeal, Trees for Cities Other things such as women's events: breakfasts, lunches etc, helping out work experience Î÷¹ÏÊÓƵs from disadvantaged backgrounds
