The Role
It was quite fun; the tasks given to me were challenging enough that I had to learn a lot of new stuff to complete them, but not impossible; friendly atmosphere and helpful team members; social events were cool; I felt like a part of the team, since I was not given some separate task to do, but worked on a bigger project together with the team.
My colleagues were always friendly, helpful and respectful of my opinions on the subject of any discussions, I never felt like I was undervalued or underappreciated just because I was an intern without a lot of experience; the tasks given to me might have been relatively simple, but that is to be expected honestly.
Everyone was super helpful and supportive; I could get help at any point, and any problems encountered were resolved quickly. The plan for the task given to me was clear and thorough, so I always knew what to do next. A technical mentor and a "buddy" were assigned to me too, we did not meet that often, and I appreciate that the meetings were not enforced in any way.
There was always stuff to do, but sometimes stuff like speaker sessions (which weren't particularly useful), various other events and mandatory online trainings prevented me from doing actually useful work; I'd like there to be less of those, or make them optional, as most of them I did not find beneficial.
My level of responsibility was surprisingly almost on par with that of my teammates - I participated in development, testing and deployment parts of the whole process, which gave me a lot of insight into the software development world.
My programming and testing skills got so much better during the internship it's unbelievable. Considering I study computer science, this is of course very relevant; I should've probably taken an internship last summer too, as the progress of my skills due to this internship is very obvious.
The Company
Atmosphere was great; people were friendly and always open to a casual chat, but if you preferred to be alone for a bit, nobody would unnecessarily bother you either. The open office space felt relaxing and helped create a friendly and inviting atmosphere of the company; it was very enjoyable to work in.
On the very first day of work, when managers were supposed to show their new interns the workplace, my manager was away, so another person from the team had to do it - I felt a bit left out as a result. A lot of setting up had to be done for the first two weeks or so, but after that the internship went pretty smoothly, I didn't encounter any major issues preventing me from working.
There was a lot of emphasis put into training. A technical mentor was assigned to every intern (only a month after the start though, for whatever reason), but in my case I preferred discussing my work with a person from the team, as they were quicker to approach and more likely to give me helpful tips and guide me through the stuff I had to learn. A "buddy" (graduate scheme guy) was also assigned, I had some insightful chats with him as well.

Most interns are likely to get a graduate scheme offer, after which there's a possibility of staying with the company afterwards. There were two internship reviews - one in the middle and one at the end - where you were told if you're currently "on track" for a graduate scheme offer, which was very helpful for self-evaluation.
The Culture
The company organized a few events for interns to help them get to know each other, socialize and have fun. Interns themselves made a Facebook group and organized some stuff on their own accord. I participated in most of them, and enjoyed them a great deal. Of course it depends on what kind of people intern at any given year.
Glasgow accommodation is quite cheap.
Did not participate.
There was an event for charity, where we had to do some gardening work.
