The Role
Good learning experience with a steep learning curve in terms of business knowledge of financial instruments.
As an intern, you make valued changes to the company affecting those around you - your work does not go to waste.
Excellent support management with clear goals to achieve over the placement.
There is enough work to go around.... And around again.
My work directly affected clients. If anything went wrong, the responsibility was on my hands.
The skills are transferrable - team working and communication being the two key things I learnt.
The Company
Everyone is busy with their own work but people are more than willing to make time to explain things/ have a laugh.
A very well organised placement with training opportunities around every corner. Shadowing opportunities are definitely available to interns.
The company invests in all aspects of your life - the company's corporate challenge (a 5km run) being a key example in getting me to want to live a healthy lifestyle.
Subsidised/Company Gym
Company Parties/Events
Healthcare/Dental
As a technologist, there are bigger opportunities at huge technology companies. If you're interested in finance and technology - this (and fintech) is the place to be.
The Culture
Everyone is happy to have a drink after work. Everyone is struggling through it together.
The area is London. Cheap does not exist.
In Canary Wharf, not very good. But Soho is not far out and takes about 15 minutes to get to.
As an intern, yes. There are events scattered throughout the internship.
