    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • I really enjoyed the JP Morgan Spring into Operations Bournemouth insight week for multiple reasons. -I felt it was very useful for understanding the culture of JP Morgan and the range of jobs available to graduates. -It was useful to hear from lots of different employees currently at the firm. -There was a very enjoyable social element to the week as networking and integrating with the other likeminded individuals on the insight week was encouraged. -A lot of material was covered over the three days meaning the week felt like it went quickly.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • JP Morgan ensured the structure of the week was well planned through and we could gain as much from the week as possible. They supplied us with a variety of workshops while also providing us with nice lunches and a social event to help us feel more comfortable and integrate with the other participants. The culture felt very inclusive with a range of guest speakers coming in and giving up their time to share their experiences and talk to us on a one to one basis.

    3/5

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • There was a lot of information available to understand what JP Morgan looks for in its candidates. The skills workshops focusing on assessment centres and the importance of networking were particularly useful. I felt the CV skills workshop could have been more personal to each individual. The HR team were very approachable for Î÷¹ÏÊÓƵs to ask questions. There was lots of opportunities to network with current employees to find out more about a specific area within operations.

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • As it was such a short period of time, I feel it would be hard to say you could make any dramatic changes in your skillsets, however I do feel JP Morgan did a very good job of ensuring you leave with the material to reflect on and act upon after the week was over. A lot of advice was given to individuals on areas of improvement and there was a big emphasis on self reflection and personal branding.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • I felt the insight week was very well structured. There was a full plan of each day to keep us busy covering a wide range of topics/areas. These areas included things like: -Who are JP Morgan -What are JP Morgans key values -What do JP Morgan look for in their employees -Personal skills are development (Including CV Skills workshop, networking skills, personal branding, mock assessment centre) -Career progression -Guest speakers from varying job roles

    4/5

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • All of the guest speakers were very passionate about their job, but also open to speaking about other experiences within JP Morgan and their own career development. As a result of this, I found the week very engaging. The HR team had a lot of energy and were very motivated to encourage enjoyment in the week and were focused on making the week a happy learning environment. At times, the week was very full on which could make it a bit intense as there was so much to cover. This could have probably been reduced by spreading the course out over four days not three.

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • They have invested time and support into ensuring I understand the company and am fully prepared to apply later in the year.

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • JP Morgan set out very clearly what they look for within their employees. They spoke about key values like integrity and the importance for applying to a firm that you feel you fit into with your own values. There was such a wide variety of speakers it was interesting to start to see patterns forming in experiences with the firm. Most speakers had found the company very flexible with their work and life balance. It was nice to here about the versatility of roles within the firm. They explained their roles are often challenging and that if you push yourself you can progress within the company or move around.

    5/5

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • The key values of the firm were made very clear from even the first presentations. There was a lot of repetition of what is expected of employees and what the firm will give back. They emphasised loyalty, integrity, hard work and many other key values of the firm through many different mediums. Employees explained how they were comfortable and happy with their job because their culture really does make their time at work enjoyable.

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • I feel it was very helpful to get an insight into all of the the different areas within operations at JP Morgan. I feel you probably could not make a fully informed decision on which specific part of operations to enter from just three days.

    3/5

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?
  • Transport, accommodation and food was supplied over the course of the week. Only one night was not covered for food. JP Morgan were very generous to be welcoming and support our stay with them. They provided lots of snacks for breaks/networking breaks throughout the days we were there. The venues they selected to talk to us in were very professional. Those who were local to the company had their car expenses reimbursed also which was very kind of them.

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • There were lots of networking opportunities throughout the three days from a variety of employees including graduates on grad programs at the firm.

    4/5

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • The networking events were very professional and the social events were very fun and inclusive.

    4/5

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?
  • Employees talked about really liking the areas of where they work not just the company itself. They spoke about charity events and the inclusive nature to hobbies thats employees may have and need to be accommodated for. It was interesting to find out every single employees priorities and involvement in the firm appeared to be different. Some people would focus on supporting minority groups whereas others would focus on hobbies or fund raising. It was clear that activities out of work are supported at the firm.

  • 15. Would you recommend this insight to a friend?
  • I feel if you are ambitious and feel you want to be in a job role with the opportunity for a lot of responsibility and a desire to push yourself in your career this week and JP Morgan as a firm is an excellent environment to be in and so I would recommend the week to them. The week is very helpful and specifically very useful if you are interested in Operations and how the firm works together as a whole. I learnt so much about what operations includes and the range of jobs available it can really open your eyes to that career path.
