About You
The insight week was fantastic. Everyone was so welcoming, particularly the two HR staff that looked after us for the week. So much was learnt throughout the week, giving us an opportunity to learn more about Operations within JP Morgan and not only whether the company wanted us to work for them, but whether we wanted to work at JPM ourselves. We met lots of people throughout our week from Directors to those on the Graduate Scheme. Thoroughly enjoyed the experience and definitely recommend it.
I felt very valued during the Insight Week. The staff that looked after us and planned the week for us made sure that we all got to know each other and to know others at the company. Those right at the top to those who had only just started, made time for us during our experience which really showed the dedication that JP have for Î÷¹ÏÊÓƵs and prospect employees.
Guidance and support was given to us whenever we needed it. If ever we had questions or needed clarification on something then we were always given the necessary information. The Insight week also gave us guidance on our CV's, presentation skills and networking - all of which JP Morgan value highly.
The guidance and skills we learnt from the week were invaluable. A lot of them related more to once we have left university and finished our degree - networking being the most pertinent of these and is a skill that you'll need for the rest of your life (especially if working at JPM). Presentation skills was probably the most useful skill developed at the Insight Week to assist in my degree, and is something that JPM give real guidance on.
The Company
The week was incredibly well structured. The two HR staff that took care of us and organised the Insight Week planned it to pinpoint accuracy. The events, presentations, sessions and talks we had were never delayed and flowed seamlessly into each other. There was never a moment where we were left doing nothing. Even during the breaks we had during sessions we had the chance to grab tea and coffee and chat to each other.
The atmosphere was great. A lot of it will depend on those that you complete the insight week with. Luckily the group that I was part of was great fun and everyone got on really well together. But this is something that all people will probably have as you'll find that as you're applying to the same thing you'll have very similar interests and will get along great with those you do it with. The staff also made us feel really welcome so that everyone could have fun
The firm really invested in us. The company wants those that do the Insight Weeks to work for them later, to do the Internships and to then get the Graduate roles. They invest a lot into you with the time they give you over the week and the skills and information they teach and give to you.
There is only so much that the company can show and give us to allow us to see what it is like to have a full time role with them. What they did do is allow us to shadow a couple of the graduates for an hour or so to see what they did and what they've learnt and enjoyed. They also set up a Î÷¹ÏÊÓƵ panel to allow us to ask questions to those that have only recently joined.
Networking is everything. JP Morgan really do want excellence and intelligence but those applying will already have that. The culture isn't just intelligent people, its welcoming and vibrant. They want you to get to know everyone that you work with and also those that you don't so that you can flow seamlessly into other departments if you want to.
Very helpful and valuable. It'll give you a chance to see what Operations is like and what they expect you to do in certain roles. Not all aspects of operations at JP Morgan will be for you as it is so varied in what it covers. It will almost certainly, however, have a role that you will want to do.
Everything Else
So much networking was done during the Insight week. It was almost too exhausting. Not only do you have chances to network and get to know those that you're doing the Insight Week with, but also with current employees at the company. There is the chance to speak to those in so many different positions that you'll lose track.
They were good fun. It gets tiring asking so many similar questions and getting such different answers with so much information, but that's what happens when you network with so many people. It is a fantastic way to not only meet those similar to you at different universities but also those that work at JP to keep in contact with.
The experience is great fun and informative. It's definitively something that Î÷¹ÏÊÓƵs should do if they can. It gives you so much information and opportunity within the company and is a great way to kick-start your career with JP Morgan. But it's also something that will and does look great on your CV even if you don't quite enjoy the experience or end up not wanting to work there.
