About You
I was a part of the J.P Morgan Spring into Operations (London, UK) 2017 Programme. I really enjoyed the insight program. we were given a lot of information about operations, J.P Morgan as well as received coaching on various different skills (including a good CV, presentations, assessments centres- groups). The days were jam packed with so many activities, networking, talks. It was really great!
J.P Morgan was not intense at all or competitive! Unlike other Investment Banks or banks in general people would be in competition with each other. However, most of the people there had grown really close with each other. Also, the firm really valued us. They pampered us with really good food, really good environment and gave us the ability to network with VPs.
There was definitely a lot of guidance and support throughout my time at J.P Morgan. However what they could've done better was change the schedule around. Rather than having us shadow graduates on the second day, we could have done that the third day. This would have allowed us to process all the information given to us about operations. All in all, it was better than I could've hoped for during the three-day span!
Like I said above, we were given assessment centre advice and tips. What we did was, we ran through a mock assessment centre with an actual employee there assessing us. It was great! They gave us individual feedback so we could improve for the next time. We learned how a structure a CV- which I found really helpful.
The Company
It was very well structured. Our timetable was so full. However, I felt like we could've shadowed more people. Some of the people we shadowed seemed like they were forced into it, so there was not really a conversation going. Besides that, the networking events we had were very well thought out, we had the chance to meet a lot of people.
It was not intense that all, although on the second day the talks were quite tense at times. Although, during lunch hours and breaks it was quite tedious to stand around and wait. it would've been good to be able to sit or change environments. The room we were put in was quite stuffy. But nevertheless, the professional environment was definitely there.
J.P Morgan definitely invested a lot of time and money in us. We were given the opportunity to dine on the client floor, breakfast and lunch were covered throughout the program. We got to speak to several VPs, executive directors and graduates. They were genuinely there to help us to understand the IB and operations life.
People there really stressed the working environment there. Although all the presenters sort of said the exact same thing- that being teamwork, networking, individuality. I would have appreciated a lot more variation to it. However, I did leave J.P Morgan knowing a ton more about operations than I did coming in.
Most of the people we spoke to really stressed about the working environment there. This was the exact same with the more open conversations we had with the graduate Î÷¹ÏÊÓƵs. We saw how hardworking everybody was. Mobility is a big factor at J.P Morgan as well, so everybody is given good opportunities to further their careers.
The insight programme definitely swayed me in the direction of wanting a career at J.P Morgan. You are exposed to the real life of the corporate culture and also the people there. However, I would've liked to have left with more knowledge about Operations. This could be improved by speaking more to graduates or telling us about the Summer Internship, etc.
Everything Else
Obviously, no salary because it is just a three day insight programme But they sponsor travel and accommodation if you live outside of London. Unfortunately, I did not qualify for that hence had to pay for my own transport. I wish they did cover my daily expenses because it got quite expensive in the end.

A lot again please refer to other answers.
Yes! the graduates did tell us about societies and sports teams we could join. It was really nice of them, the graduate that was showing my group around even showed me their sports achievements throughout the years at J.P Morgan. Also volunteer activities available to us locally or internationally.
Definitely, apply!
