About You
Very enjoyable and valuable exposure to the typical working environment in the JP Morgan Operations division.
JP Morgan values each worker particularly highly and this was clear on the insight week as everyone knew you by name even though there were 40 Î÷¹ÏÊÓƵs attending.
Every session was supported by a broad range of employees of various seniority within JP Morgan, all who showed great enthusiasm which made everything clear and easy to understand.
The information received to do with specific job roles was very useful when helping to make a decision whether the division would be the right place to apply for a placement/internship. Less specific workshops aimed to develop interpersonal, networking and presentation skills which are important not only in my degree but also in any type of business environment.
The Company
There was never a time when I felt a block of time was just being filled for the sake of it. Every presentation was valuable in different ways and there was always something interesting to ask which meant that time flew by.
Incredibly enthusiastic and friendly atmosphere. Everyone was keen to find out about you and share their experiences with you. Also was much more relaxed than you would expect at such a big financial institution, which makes it an extremely attractive place to apply to.
Over the three days, there were workshops designed to develop key business skills however it was made clear that there were extensive training opportunities when on a longer internship/placement.
The insight very much based itself on driving the culture of the company which was clearly very transparent within the employees that we were able to network with. They were very open to any kind of questions and shared experiences from their years working at the firm which was very useful to gauging a real feel for what an everyday work/life balance would be like.
Hugely, almost every event enforced the culture of innovation, transparency, and flexibility.
Helpful in deciding whether or not the operations division is for you or not, however it was clear that many opportunities would open up through this company which would lead to a flexible but rewarding career.
Everything Else
Hotel accommodation and travel expenses were an paid for.
Yes, the most valuable events had networking opportunities with employees from analyst to vice president or managing director seniority.
Useful in understanding the work life balance along with the opportunities in JP Morgan aswell as the application process and fitting in at the company.
Yes, there are plenty or sports teams, and charity events that you can get involved with when working at JP Morgan.
Definitely, it was not only a useful insight into what work in that division is like, but also very enjoyable and a great opportunity to meet like minded people.
