    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • I took part in the 2017 Spring into Operations insight program in London. I found it an incredibly enjoyable experience. The week was filled with informative talks, as well as multiple networking opportunities and some work shadowing. There was a perfect balance between fun and learning, while being immersed in an environment which enabled me to thrive.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • Prior to going on the Spring Week I wasn't sure what people meant when they spoke about "the culture at JP Morgan". However after my Spring Week I understand that it truly is first class, in every way. We had the opportunity to meet some senior figures at the bank, who were very friendly and approachable. We also met with grad Î÷¹ÏÊÓƵs who were just as welcoming. It is an incredible environment to be in and I didn't feel nervous about asking questions or networking, which is really positive.

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • Plenty. The coordinators did an excellent job at ensuring that we had plenty of talks from a variety of different people who told us about the vast roles which are in operations. I have a much clearer idea of what operations is and what actually goes on in the division, which is exactly what I set out to learn at the beginning of the week.

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • This was the first time I ever had to actually 'network'. Again, I commend the coordinators on their efforts to provide us with so many opportunities to talk with employees at JP Morgan, allowing us to build up our contacts within the bank.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • It was so well organised. I know that a lot of planning went into this Spring Week. Each day we had a plan which we stuck to. This plan encompassed a multitude of talks and skill building sessions and each day we had an opportunity to meet more and more employees at JP Morgan.

    5/5

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • Incredible. This Spring Insight was the first of any type of formal internship I have taken part of and it was so enjoyable. The other Î÷¹ÏÊÓƵs on the program were very friendly and the coordinators from HR were very approachable and friendly too.

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • There was skill sessions through out the week which was directed towards building your personal brand, which prepared us for interviews and assessment centers. There was a lot of thought and organizing done by the HR team that coordinated the Spring Week to ensure that we were well equipped for these rigorous stages of recruitment.

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • Although the program only ran for three days it really helped me to experience what life at JP Morgan is like. It is an exceptional environment to be in, the staff there are all very smart, very efficient, but are also open and friendly. It is the type of environment which brings out the best in you and allows you to thrive and grow.

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • JP Morgan pride themselves on conducting 'first class business in a first class way' and I totally understand what exactly they mean. The people there are very good at what they do, but are also humble and willing to reach out. The clients are of course the main priority, however the employees enjoy many benefits such as having a gym, a very well equipped canteen, endless training opportunities and many other perks which make life at JP Morgan challenging but also rewarding. Working there is so much more than just a job!

    5/5

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • Operations is such a diverse division in the bank, so it was very useful that we got talks from a selection of MDs, Executive Directors and VPs all from the operations division. I have a much clearer understanding of what Ops is, so I can definitely say that the content was helpful in deciding a future career path.

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?
  • My flights and accommodation were covered, as well as being given a travel card for the week, also we were fed each day so they really went the extra mile to look after us, it was really great!

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • Everyday! Perhaps the most beneficial part of the program was that we were able to meet with so many people through out the week. As well as meeting with employees, I made some great friends who were on the Spring Program with me. It was nice being able to meet with a variety of employees as well as interns who all work at JP Morgan

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • Talks were held each day where we got the chance to learn about the different roles in operations, we also did some work shadowing with interns in small groups, and on the final day we had a 'speed networking' session where we spent time talking with many people from many different sections in operations.

    5/5

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?
  • Yes, there are many societies and sports teams which employees can join, which include football, netball and many many more. There is something for everyone, which is really great. Like in university there are lots of 'extra curricular' activities to get involved in.

    5/5

  • 15. Would you recommend this insight to a friend?
  • Yes absolutely. Taking part in this Spring Week was one of the best things I have ever done. I learned more about Investment Banks in the past week than I have learned at Uni in the last two years! It was an incredible experience and I would encourage any body who is at all interested in working in finance to apply for this Spring Week
