About You
Among 3 of the best days of my life. Great interaction with the JP Morgan recruiters, other workers (from VP's to ED's), as well as the other Î÷¹ÏÊÓƵs. Got a comprehensive insight into the Operations Division, while still having lots of fun.
I felt extremely valued at the company. I had feared feeling like I would be wasting the employees time with questions, however they all expressed how they greatly enjoyed seeing new talent and passing on their knowledge. The two organisers, Dolly and Claire, made us all feel so welcome from the very first morning on the coach. Everyone was very approachable and happy to interact with us.
I received a lot of support throughout the program, from professional to personal support. This encourages me to want to return on another Î÷¹ÏÊÓƵ program/as an employee in the future.
I developed a range of different skills - teamwork, CV's, interviewing and networking. Each of these is extremely important as I begin my career and I think that I gained a lot from the different skill workshops. I learned a lot of new information about the actual company and the Operations division in particular. I think that this is very valuable, as I now know that I could see myself working in this area in the future.
The Company
The program was well structured. We had one/one and a half hour sessions throughout each day. These varied between talks, group work, job-shadowing. The alternating activities kept me interested and concentrated throughout the insight.
The overall atmosphere was great. Everyone was approachable and helpful. JP Morgan managed to incorporate fun into learning. We got good opportunities to make professional connections as well as friends. I think the atmosphere really exposed what the culture as a JP Morgan employee is like.
We spent lots of time developing our knowledge and skills. Throughout the day the program alternated from skills workshops to talks. This allowed us gain great knowledge as well as improve our own practical abilities.
The insight significantly improved my understanding of a full time role at JP Morgan - from the office tour, to speaking to current employees.
The consistency from all different employees answering on the company culture proved to me that JP Morgan is a great place to work. There is a very motivating, supportive atmosphere. There are great opportunities to travel and to move to new divisions, but no obligation to do so. It is clear that the culture in JP is to work hard and you will be rewarded.
Before going to the insight I was unsure about whether I would like to pursue a career in the banking sector. After getting an in-depth insight into the Operations division I am sure I would like to pursue this path.
Everything Else
Flight from Ireland, train from the airport and hotel all kindly paid for by JP Morgan.
There were great opportunities to meet employees from all levels. We got to job-shadow employees on the Grad Program, as well as 'speed networking' with Vice Presidents, Executive Directors.
Meeting the grads was very helpful as they are closer in age and experience. Therefore I felt comfortable to ask them any questions I had and I got a great idea of what my future may look like. Meeting the VP's and ED's was also very insightful. They could give a comprehensive view on the company and the development a career with JP Morgan may look like.
Yes, there seems to be great social activities available as well as volunteering opportunities.
I would definitely recommend Spring week to a friend. It is a great opportunity to all Î÷¹ÏÊÓƵs studying in any field and an overall enjoyable experience.
