About You
A fantastic Spring Week. A new experience everyday. Widened my knowledge horizon of Front-Office functions.
Very valued. We were all in a team. However a good level of competition.
Main guidance was for our week-long group project. Fantastic mentors. They took their time to help us. We learnt a completely new case study. Very fascinating.
The week helped me improve my team working skills. My university degree is largely based off of group projects and coursework. Helped me to see, if this is for me or not?
The Company
Incredibly structured. There was always something going on. Fantastic presentations. A big thank you to the HR team for organising.
Very positive atmosphere. Everybody was very eager to learn. All JPM employees were excited to help. Students were outside of their comfort zone.
It was only a Spring Week, not a Summer Internship programme thus JPM did not need to invest in me and my colleagues. However, JPM did invest its time (JPM employees) in order to provide us with help and relevant insights across the Markets Division.
We had two rotations on the trading floors during the course of the Spring Week. Both lasting approximately 4 hours. We were able to ask as many questions as we wanted to JPM employees whilst they went about their daily business. We had the opportunity to experience what life is like on the trading floor.
Throughout the week we were subject to a lot of interactions with current JPM staff. Whether during networking lunches, or group projects (where we were assigned mentors) or on the trading floors. We had the opportunity to talk have long discussions with JPM employees to see how the culture of JPM really is. It was great. Everybody was very positive, with the majority of employees having been at JPM for longer the 5 years. (not that common in the finance industry)
The content was very valuable. The usual process began with a presentation on a certain asset class, (by JMP employees) followed by a group exercise testing our knowledge and skills. A fantastic structure. Furthermore, it helped us understand what asset class we would like to be subject to if we were to join the firm full time.
Everything Else
I was commuting to the JPM offices in Canary Wharf from London, thus I did not need the firm to reimburse me for any expenses.
There were plenty of networking opportunities. We had a asset class speed networking session. We had multiple networking lunches. And we were able to network during our rotations on the trading floors.
Brilliant. Thank you to the HR team for the fantastic organisation. During the asset class speed networking session, 3 employees from each asset class gave us an insight into 'what they do' and answered all of our questions. During the senior networking lunch, we simply approached senior employees of the firm and were able to ask them any questions we wanted, whilst sharing a bite to eat.
Unfortunately not. Although I believe this would be more suited to those Î÷¹ÏÊÓƵs that are participating in a summer internship over the time of 10 weeks, rather than a simple one week insight into the firm.
I would absolutely 100% recommend this experience to a friend. If anybody has the opportunity to take part in a programme like this they should be excited and prepare adequately in order to get the most out of the experience.
