About You
The J.P.Morgan Spring Week program was one of the most insightful, informative and well-organised programs I have ever participated in. I had the chance to learn about the lines of businesses in the Markets division, improve my presentation skills, network with professionals and learn about internship and graduate opportunities at J.P.Morgan.
Everyone from HR to the most senior professionals at the firm made sure to spend time with us and help us make the most out of our week at J.P. Morgan. Many of the employees took the time and effort to get to know us and give us advice about the application process, as well as sharing their personal experience at the bank.
I had the chance to speak to many current employees of the bank and received useful advice about career choices and applications. HR was very helpful with preparation for the final presentation, and the work shadowing experience was very useful in deciding which line of business I would like to work in.
I improved my presentation skills, analytical skills as well as interpersonal communication skills during this program. This is sure to help me succeed in my studies and future career. The technical knowledge gained will help with business courses, and the commercial awareness I built up will help with future interviews and job applications.
The Company
The insight program was very well structured. The HR planned every hour of the week for us and organised useful, informative sessions and workshops that provided a complete insight into the bank for us. There was something different and exciting to do every day of the week. We had socials among the participants, networking events with professionals, work shadowing sessions and many more fun activities.
The general atmosphere was relaxed but intense at the same time. HR made it known to us that our behaviour and conduct were being observed to see if we were a good match for the bank. However, it was emphasised that every activity was for us to get to know the firm and its work, and also for the firm to get to know us, instead of a competition between participants.
It was evident the firm and the HR had spent a significant length of time planning the program so that it was as insightful and as informative as possible for us. Although the week was intended to give us insight into the bank, we were given plenty of opportunity to present, ask questions and engage in discussions. I left the firm feeling more confident with my knowledge and my future career choice.
We were given the opportunity to shadow current workers at the firm. This helped us see exactly what it is like to work full time at J.P. Morgan. Furthermore, many senior and junior professionals at the firm came to talk about the experience at J.P. Morgan with us and I had the chance to ask questions about the pros and cons of working at as large an organisation as J.P.
The work shadowing experience, as well as the observed interaction between workers at the firm provided plenty of opportunities to understand the company culture. There was a general atmosphere of camaraderie and hard work at the firm and even though the firm has large numbers of employees, it seemed as if the people were very much in sync.
The content of the week long program was incredibly helpful with deciding on my future career path. After talking to numerous people at the firm, listening to presentations and taking part in interactive exercises, I reached a solid conclusion on which career path and which line of business I wanted to work in.
Everything Else
There were a few opportunities to meet with other employees at the firm through networking sessions, socials and work shadowing sessions.
We had two social events between the participants for the five day program and one networking event. They were very helpful as I got to make many friends from many different degree courses, universities and countries. It was a great opportunity to learn from peers and get to know their experiences.
We were able to find out about some activities employees get involved in outside of work through engaging in conversations with them. Overall, the program was more focused on introducing what people worked on. The office seemed to provide plenty of facilities where the employees could take time off work and relax.
Yes. It is a very useful and highly informative event jam packed with networking sessions, workshops and exercises and presentations. Highly recommended for people who are interested in learning what a career in investment banking in like, and for people looking to make friends with like minded Î÷¹ÏÊÓƵs and professionals in the industry.
